August 23, 2018

It is a well-known fact that proper nutrition is important for our health but little is known that our hair condition and natural growth, affected by what we eat and should also be nourished in order to remain strong healthy and beautiful.

Today, we will talk about proper nutrition for our hair and those important components that must always be included in our diet and hair care routine.

1. Vitamins

* Vitamin A - Cells need vitamin A for growth. Considering hair is the fastest growing tissue in the human body - Vitamin A is highly important for hair growth.

* Vitamin B - One of the most noted vitamins for hair growth is Biotin, belongs to a group of B-vitamins. This group of vitamins helps to create red blood cells which carry oxygen to hair follicles and scalp, a necessary process for hair growth and nutrition.

* Vitamin C - Is a well-known antioxidant, it protects against free radicals and prevents hair from aging, also important for creating collagen and helps absorbing iron.

* Vitamin E - Helps prevent oxidation and increasing hair growth.

2. Iron

Very important mineral for hair growth, in cases of deficiency, hair loss is one of the major symptoms as a result of anemia.

3. Zinc

A mineral which contributes to hair tissue growth and rebuilding. Helps oil glands around the follicles function properly. Just like Iron, in cases of deficiency, hair loss increases although some studies show that excess of zinc in the body could be harmful as well and in some cases, apparently can cause hair loss.

4. Protein

Protein deficiency is one of the main reasons for hair loss and hair damage since hair made of protein almost entirely. When we are planning our diet it is important to include enough protein, especially in vegetarian and vegan diets.

5. Natural extracts

Besides balancing our diet we can contribute to our hair health and growth by treating it with natural extracts. One of the best ways to enrich our locks with vital substances is using natural therapy oils. Natural oils for hair are rich in phytosterols, vitamins and essential fatty acids, plant sterols such as linoleic acid and miliacinthe, nutrients that are required to maintain a healthy scalp and promote natural hair growth.

To sum up, the best way to get all the components we need to keep our hair healthy and youthful is a balanced diet and proper hair care routine. But sometimes, especially in cases of deficiency (which only your doctor can determine) supplements may be helpful.
